DVA Architecture, in collaboration with WDM Architects, provided architectural design services for The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo’s new $4.1 million Rosebrough Tiger Passage. This habitat encompasses 15,000 SF of natural area and is home to the zoo’s three Amur (Siberian) tigers. The design emulates their natural habitats in eastern Russia and northeast China, and includes features such as four separate, interconnected habitat areas for the tigers to roam, climbing poles, native grass meadows, rock outcrops, tree climbing structures, shallow rocky streams and deep soaking pools.

The complexity of the space gives the tigers choices to explore and offers guests the experience to view them as they would in the wild. The habitat incorporates LEED design principles and embraces the Cleveland Metroparks’ Green Infrastructure and Sustainability guiding principles recognized in the Cleveland Metroparks 2020 Emerald Necklace Centennial Plan.
